Actress Aketra Sevillian has always been a fan of soap operas, Thanks to her grandmother’s love for shows like Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. Growing up watching these shows, Sevillian became well-versed in the world of daytime drama before eventually getting her role. It wasn’t an easy journey, though. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Sevillian shared her journey of how she landed a role on Days.
Sevillian had auditioned for the show many times, but it just wasn’t working out for her. She was just praying and hoping to be cast as the good girl, never wanting to be the villain. However, she understood that it might be difficult to ask for such a role in the world of soap operas. It took her a couple of tries actually get the role. The Days of Our Lives star said that she even auditioned for the role of Taila’s sister, Jada Hunter, but couldn’t make it either.
However, a few months later, her luck changed when DOOL finally offered her a part they thought she was perfect for. That part was Talia, a fun-loving and outgoing character that Sevillian instantly felt a connection to. She related to Talia so much that when the casting director urged her to “Make Talia you,” she took the advice to heart. For Sevillian, playing Talia has been a dream come true. She’s grateful for the opportunity to bring her own personality to the character. Moreover, to be a part of the world of daytime drama that she grew up loving.
Sevillian Opens Up About Bonding With Days of Our Lives Co-Stars
Aketra Sevillian has been having a smooth experience on the set of Days of Our Lives since she landed her role. However, she admits that she was a little nervous on her first day. Thankfully, her co-stars helped her feel more comfortable. Sevillian had nothing but praise for Ari Zucker, who she says is like a mother hen on set.
