Reform Alliance announced that Kim Kardashian and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin paid off legal fees for more than 50 mothers for Mother’s Day. Michael is a co-chair of the non-profit criminal-justice organization. The Kardashians star shared a video of her talking to a few mothers on a video call. She captioned the video explaining how the “broken” fee system works. Kim told the world that thousands of mothers are stuck on probation or parole because they cannot afford to pay off their fines.
She also mentioned that women are at constant risk of being returned to prison. This is not for committing a new crime but for missing a meeting with their probation officer. The Kardashians star and the SKIMS founder have previously taken up several prison reform issues. Kim Kardashian affirmed to the public that she would continue to bring awareness to these critical issues until change. She interceded with President Trump in 2020 to grant amnesty to Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old prison reform advocate.
The reality TV star also stated that it’s hard to fathom what these mothers have to go through. All these mothers want is the chance to rebuild their lives. Kim expressed her angst by mentioning that the system keeps these mothers in an endless supervision cycle.
