All The Young and the Restless fans were heartbroken when the news about Mishael Morgan leaving Y&R broke out. It was honestly out of nowhere and had left all the fans shaken. The actress, through an Instagram post, revealed that she would be moving onto different projects here on and hence stepping down from Y&R. But was that the REAL Reason? It doesn’t looks like so.
Mishael Morgan Steps Down From The Young And The Restless
While many actors, when leaving a soap opera, tend to speak out about the reason for their departure, Mishael Morgan just said how much she loved Y&R but was now ready to move it. The good news is the actress has finally spoken up. Recently, Mishael appeared on the Soap Opera Digest’s podcast- Dishing With Digest. There, she spoke about how difficult it was for her to move away from The Young And The Restless.
The actress, who joined the cast of The Young And The Restless in 2013, has played two roles in her run on the soap opera. She first joined as the character of Hilary Curtis and was written out in 2018. Then, she returned again in 2019 as a new character, Amanda Sinclair. Over the years she has been on The Young And The Restless, the actress has won not only many hearts but also awards. After being on the soap for almost ten years, it’s time for her to go, and now, she has come out to talk about the REAL REASON for her exit.
The REAL REASON Revealed!
Speaking on the podcast, the actress said that her reason for being hesitant to sign a three-year contract with The Young and the Restless is part her ambition and part her family. While she loves The Young and The Restless, her family lives in Canada. And, it’s very difficult for her to be with them in their time of need. Given the travel restrictions across the world, it’s gotten even more difficult.
Further speaking of it, the actress revealed that being away from her family made her feel trapped, and it was a nightmare. Morgan’s family lives in Toronto while she is in L.A. So, it was time for her to evaluate everything. She had to decide what was more important to her. Clearly, her family came to the top of her list.
With that said, she hasn’t denied her ambition. Another part of her decision to step down from The Young and The Restless was that she wanted to tell other stories. The one that would make an impact. She says that while she loves the soaps, there is a lot going out there. Morgan wants to tell more cutting-edge stories. She wanted to work in light of Black Lives matter.
The actress recently won an Emmy award and also made history for being the first black woman to win the honor. Now, the actress is onto new things. The silver lining here is she hasn’t left The Young and the Restless on sour terms. In fact, as the actress says, Y&R is her home, and she will come back anytime either of the parties feels the need to.
